Born on March 15th, 1955 in Fez, the spiritual capital of the kingdom, Aziz El Hajouji
spent all his life in the world of jewelry. His first source of inspiration was his great-grandfather, Driss Ben Abdeslam El Hajouji, who was a highly respected member of the jewelers artisans corporation in Meknes at the beginning of the 20th century. It was only natural that Aziz El Hajouji follows the footsteps of his memorable ancestor. Fascinated by the work of craftsmen as a child, he spent his free time in the jewelry market, admiring the perfection of each jewel, and already dreaming of his own.
The beginning - The first shop
At the age of 14, Aziz El Hajouji left his hometown for Casablanca to learn artisan-ship. In less than two years, he mastered the craft and a boutique of five employees. This transition allowed him to understand well his customers, their requirements, desires and tastes. Quickly, he started his own business, and opened his first jewelry store in Bab Marrakesh, in the Medina of Casablanca. The shop attracted a growing number of customers, seduced by its beautiful creations that set the tone of trends; and here, the fabulous epic El Hajouji was born.
In 1997, Aziz El Hajouji wrote a new page in the world of jewelry. That year, OroMecanica sees the light of day. The jewelry factory, located in Sidi Maârouf, defeats all codes and democratizes luxury. Craftsmanship, mechanization, precision of High Tech equipment, innovation, know-how and originality combine to give birth to unique jewels of exceptional quality. The artisanal work of jewelery is preciously preserved, both in the field of crimping, assembly and finishing. Aziz El Hajouji jealously watches over the transmission of this ancestral art and makes every effort to ensure that it is done in the best conditions.
Understanding Memorandum with Nouzha Chekrouni
In 1998, Aziz El Hajouji, CEO of Oromecanica signed with Nouzha Chekrouni, Secretary of State to the Minister of Social Development, Solidarity, Employment and Vocational Training for special needs individuals, a Memorandum of Understanding for the insertion of people with special needs. In the process, a school of jewelry craftsmen was created in collaboration with the State Secretariat for Vocational Training. 20% of the workforce at the OroMecanica plant are people with special needs. Young apprentices benefit from advanced training provided by trainers from Italy and Asia, which are famous for their know-how.
Decoration by HM the King
OroMecanica’s involvement in the professional integration of people with special needs is also highly recognized. On April 1, 2005, His Majesty the King Mohammed VI awarded the medal of merit to Aziz El Hajouji, Chief Executive Officer of OroMecanica for the efforts of his company in this direction. This recognition in high places confirms and encourages the CEO of Oromecanica to continue this path for the greater good.
In December 2018, the new headquarters of OroMecanica has opened. Occupying an area of more than 27,000 square meter, the new factory hosts various production sites, workshops, a jewelry clinic, an exceptional jewelry gallery, a showroom of more than 5,000 square meter intended to serve as many customers as possible, a showcase for the various achievements of the Manufacture, as well as a mosque accommodating approximately 1,000 people, a dining hall, a sports ground of 1,500 square meter and car parking lot designed to receive hundreds of cars. The smallest details of this grandiose project have been refined to make it a jewel both outside and inside.
As family business, OroMécanica ensures its operation thanks to the implication of El Hajouji children who have made their passion a job. For example, Meriem is the head of the marketing department; Leila is the head of the sales department, while Tarik is a gemologist and a graduate of the prestigious Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in the United States. Ismail, expert in finance is the Director of South Development, and Mamoun, the youngest who will join the company once he finishes his higher education. The family patrimony is in good hands, and the succession is perfectly assumed and assured.
